Pet Portraits from Your Photographs
The animal companions with whom we share our lives can mean the world to us. An original, hand-painted, acrylic portrait is a beautiful way to celebrate a cherished pet or remember those we have lost. Pet portraits also make special gifts for friends and family to treasure always. I painted my first pet portrait, a pony, at age 12, and have enjoyed the happiness and comfort my portraits have brought to pet owners since, honing my skills as an artist through classes at The University of the South (Sewanee), Vanderbilt University and The University of Louisville.
Working from a selection of your favorite photographs and through fine attention to detail, I strive to create a sensitive portrait of your companion. An animal lover myself, I appreciate how important it is not only to capture the outer physical characteristics of your pet, but also the spirit within. I attempt to bring out the unique personality and expressive characteristics of each animal -- the lopsided grin, the rolling eye, the crooked ear.
